About Us
Carmen Etchart and Keenan Campbell are the proprietors of www.lauburu.com, in beautiful White Rock, BC Canada.
Carmen, oldest of 4 siblings, was born to Basque parents, who left Erasun, Navarra and Maya del Baztan in the Basque Country (el Pais Vasco) in the mid '60's to join family in Merritt, BC (Canada). During Carmen's childhood and late teens, she had the incredible opportunity to spend several years living in the Basque Country to become better acquainted with her extended family and cultural roots. As such, their handicrafts focus on the treasured Lauburu symbol of the Basque people.
This site is in memory of David Maritorena whose love for "el Pais Vasco" continues to aid in our inspiration.
We miss him dearly and though he is gone, he will never be forgotten.
